Native Round Feathers Sig Tag Tutorial This tutorial was created on April 18, 2004. If it bears any resemblance to another tutorial on the net, it is pure coincidence. The skills that you will learn here are your own, and I hope that you will find them useful. In this tutorial, I will assume that you have a basic working knowledge of PSP, and it is made for upper level beginners or intermediate skill levels. No 3rd party plug-ins are required for this tutorial. Remember to save your work often. Materials:
Instructions:
Open a new image 500 x 500 transparent.
Open the two tubes supplied, press shift D to duplicate each one and close the originals. Minimize the man 2 tube for later use.
Click on the feather tube to make it active. Image/Resize/45%. Use you magic Wand and click somewhere outside of the tube. Selections/Invert. Edit/Copy.
Click on your blank image, Edit/Paste As New Selection. There should now be marching ants around your image. Position this feather near the top center of your canvas. Leave feather selected.
Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ Right 30 degrees, all layers unchecked. Leave this image selected.
Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ Right 30 degrees, all layers unchecked. Selections/Select None. You should now have 3 feathers showing.
Use you magic Wand and click somewhere outside of the image. Selections/Invert. Edit/Copy.
Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ Right 90 degrees, all layers unchecked. Line the feather points up and leave this image selected.
Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ Right 90 degrees, all layers unchecked. Line the feather points up and leave this image selected.
Edit/Copy. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ Right 90 degrees, all layers unchecked. Line the feather points up and Selections/Select None. You should now have this for an image.
Right click on your Raster 1 layer and select Duplicate. Hide this layer by clicking on the eye next to this layer. It should now have a red X on it.
Select your original layer and apply the Kaleidoscope filter using the following settings: Effects/Reflection Effects/Kaleidoscope.
Unhide your copy layer. Position the Raster 1 layer to be centered behind your copy layer. Your may have to adjust both layer images. It should look something like this:
Right click on your layer window and Merge/Merge Visble.
Right click on the merged layer and add a new raster layer.
Image/Canvas Size/600 x 600 pixels.
Open your minimized feather tube. Edit/Copy. Select your new image and make sure your new raster layer is selected. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Image/Mirror. Image/Rotate/Free Rotate/ right 200 degrees, all layers unchecked.
Position this feather as shown:
While still on the copy layer, Edit/Copy, Edit/Paste As New Image. Image/Mirror. Position opposite of the other feather. Selections/Select None.
Right click on the merged layer and add a new raster layer. This will give you 3 layers, the newest layer between the top and bottom layer.
Open your Man 2 tube. Edit/Copy.
On your new image, select the middle layer. Edit/Paste As New Selection.
Position this image so that his lower arm is slightly hidden by the top edge of the two feathers.
Add your watermark if you wish at this stage and then crop your image as desired. Merge/Merge Visible.
Add a new raster layer for the text.
Choose your text and add text as desired. I rotated the text 45 degrees but do as you wish.
I used these colors for the text. Foreground #CABDA0 and Background #C0CDCE.
Apply an inner bevel using these settings, Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel:
Apply a drop shadow with these settings: Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow: V9, H4,O100,B5.0, color black.
Export your finished file as a transparent gif and your all set.
